E. Ann Rose is a senior consultant with BSM Consulting, working in their Rose & Associates division which specializes in Medicare reimbursement and compliance for the specialty of ophthalmology.
With 40-plus years of experience in the health care industry, Ms. Rose is a well-known and sought after speaker and consultant who is devoted to assisting ophthalmologists with coding and reimbursement issues to ensure regulatory compliance. Ms. Rose has extensive knowledge in Medicare regulations.
The Rose & Associates division of BSM Consulting provides services to ophthalmology, optometry, and other ophthalmic-related specialties. Its services include, but are not limited to, the following: chart audits; provider and staff training; seminars; and consulting support.
Ms. Rose is the publisher and editor of The Messenger, a bimonthly newsletter specific to ophthalmology. In addition, she serves on the editorial board of the reimbursement section of Ocular Surgery News, contributes regularly to Administrative Eyecare magazine, and frequently presents at national eye care meetings.
Ms. Rose started her career as a member of the Medicare acquisition team at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas shortly after Blue Cross was awarded the contract to process and pay Medicare claims in 1966. Instrumental in helping develop the HCFA 1500 claim form (now known as the CMS-1500 claim form), Ms. Rose also assisted in developing the paperless claims processing system known today as electronic billing.
After leaving Blue Cross and Blue Shield, she and her late husband, Bill Rose, formed Rose & Associates. In the early 1980s, Ms. Rose was heavily involved in the certification of ambulatory surgery centers successfully obtaining more than 20 Certificates of Need for physicians who were interested in developing surgery centers as part of their medical practice.
Ms. Rose attended Rutherford Business College in Dallas and has business affiliations with numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA), the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE), the American Academy of Procedural Coders (AAPC), the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and the American College of Eye Surgeons (ACES).
