Richard Koval is a Principal and Senior Consultant with BSM Consulting, in its Reno, NV office. Mr. Koval consults with medical practices throughout the United States in the areas of physician employment, buy-sell agreements, practice valuations, mergers and acquisitions, purchase/sale transactions, income distribution systems, practice finance and budgeting, and general practice governance and management.
Before joining BSM Consulting in 1994, Mr. Koval compiled more than 13 years of hospital and group practice experience, including six years as the administrator of a 40-physician multispecialty group practice, and another six years as administrator of a 15-physician practice.
Mr. Koval is a frequent speaker at numerous state and national conferences and has provided lectures for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators, Medical Group Management Association, New England Ophthalmological Society, and Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology. He also has conducted seminars for residents and fellows at Duke University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Indiana University, Louisiana State University, Loyola University (Chicago), Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Mayo Clinic, Medical College of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, St. Louis University, Stanford University, SUNY-Downstate, Washington University, Wills Eye Hospital, and the Universities of Arizona, California-San Diego, Colorado, Florida, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa, Kansas, Miami, Minnesota, Missouri-Kansas City, Oregon, South Florida, Texas-San Antonio, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
His writings have appeared in Administrative Eyecare, Practical Neurology, EyeWorld, Ophthalmology Management, Practical Dermatology, Review of Ophthalmology, and other professional journals. Mr. Koval is a member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and is a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE). He is also a member of the editorial board for Ophthalmology Management and past contributing editor for Administrative Eyecare. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree Cum Laude in Economics, and Master of Public Administration from Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID.
