Expanding Our Team: Building the BSM Brand in Aesthetic Medicine

Over the past 15 years, the BSM team has played an important role in assisting medical aesthetic providers with the implementation of business strategies to take advantage of the enormous surge in consumer demand for surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. During this time, we have enjoyed a great strategic partnership with our friends and colleagues at Allergan, Inc., developing and implementing many outstanding practice management tools and resources.

At our annual strategic planning meeting last October, we decided to expand our team to better serve the growing needs of our clients. I knew at the time the only way we would be successful is if we could attract the right talent to lead this important initiative. I am happy to report that our patience has been well served. In the last 60 days we have added two senior consultants to our roster.

Lori Poznansky and Glenn Morley are no strangers to practice management consulting and the world of aesthetic medicine. Each has many years of consulting experience with aesthetic providers across North America. They bring to BSM intimate knowledge of the space, creative and positive energy, as well as a thoughtful and pragmatic approach to problem solving and business development. I am confident they will help leverage our many strengths while allowing us to expand our scope of services and client footprint.

Over the past month, our team has been focused on assessing the aesthetic medicine market while identifying our best opportunities. We have mapped an action plan that will focus on three key areas:

  1. Strengthen our operating infrastructure to support our new team members and enhance our service levels
  2. Develop new and innovative programs and services that will deliver greater value to our clients
  3. Align with leading industry partners to deliver greater value to our clients in an efficient manner

One specific initiative identified by our planning team is to introduce our popular Certified Patient Services Specialist (CPSS) certification program to aesthetic medicine. This program was launched in ophthalmology several years ago, and today we have nearly 3,000 front office and management staff who have achieved this certification. CPSS provides an opportunity for staff to learn critical aspects of customer service while “feeling valued” in their job.

Of course, we will bring many more programs and services to the market in the coming years. As always, we will listen to you, our clients, to focus on the things that matter most to you.

    Great news! We are an eye practice with a medical aesthetics department and it's a lonely place. Truly there are few good resources without looking inside the plastic surgery camp. Our vendors have limited marketing materials, but of course that is only one part of the process. Therefore, we've mostly operated independently crafting our own creative internal and external marketing and customer service processes. Additionally, inventory management of the high cost drugs is challenging. However, there are many synergies between managing aesthetics, optical and nutriceuticals, which we have been able to enjoy. BSM is our favorite resource so we look forward to your new offerings!
