Elizabeth H. Cifers, MBA, MSW, CPC, CHC
Elizabeth H. Cifers is a senior consultant with BSM Consulting, working in its Rose & Associates division, which specializes in Medicare reimbursement and compliance for the specialty of ophthalmology.
In her position as a senior consultant for Rose & Associates, Ms. Cifers conducts onsite chart audits and assists clients with Medicare reimbursement and compliance issues.
Prior to joining BSM, Ms. Cifers worked at Retina Institute of Virginia, most recently serving as a business and finance administrator/compliance officer. Prior to that, she served as the retina practice’s administrator. In those roles, she was responsible for regulatory compliance, managing day-to-day operations, human resources, supervision of administrative and technical employees, benchmarking, and staff development.
With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Ms. Cifers’ career spans academic health care systems and private practice, including mental health, cardiology, general ophthalmology, and retina. A background in psychology and social work allows Ms. Cifers to work well with a wide range of clients. Career accomplishments include experience as a coding and documentation auditor and trainer, as well as earning certifications that permit her to serve as a multifaceted consultant.
Ms. Cifers graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She later attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where she earned her master’s in social work (MSW) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). Ms. Cifers is a certified procedural coder (CPC) and is certified in health care compliance (CHC). She has business affiliations with numerous industry organizations, including: The American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA), the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE), and American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
